AUSTRALIA’S COST EFFECTIVE EDUCATION:

As a result, Australia has built a world-wide reputation for excellence based on its high quality systems of education and training delivered at comparably lower costs. But this lower cost does not reflect a corresponding diminution of quality.

Research shows that the average cost of completing a Bachelors Degree in business was nearly 54%less than a private university in the United States of America while the cost of completing a Masters Degree in business was nearly 44% less than in the United States of America.

The cost of living in Australia also enjoys an edge over other countries. Statistics shows that the cost of living for an international student in Australia was nearly 30% less than either the United States of America or the United Kingdom. Average expenses for the students living in Australia are estimated to cost about AUD 12000 PA

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Australia and India share similar education systems-12 yrs of schooling, under graduate degrees in arts and science are normally 3 years, engineering and architecture degrees require 4 years of study. Students from India, hence not required to take up any special entrance exams. Admission to all undergrad programs is based on your marks obtained in Standard XII exams. For post grad degrees and diplomas it is based on the marks obtained in your under graduate degree. Scores of GRE, GMAT is needed by some business schools. All students who aims to pursue their further education in Australia must demonstrate their English proficiency by obtaining scores in the IELTS test. This is also a mandatory requirement for obtaining a student visa. Enrolling in to bachelor or masters degree student must obtain at least an IELTS score of 6.0. Whereas those enrolling in a diploma level program need an overall band of 5.5. However some courses like law, communications, MBA need a higher level of proficiency, as overall band score of 6.5 or 7 with no band less than 6.0.

WORK WHILE STUDY:

As a student you are legally permitted to work 40 hours per fortnight during semester and full time during vacation. It can be on-campus or off-campus. After enrolling at the institution in Australia you will have to apply for a work permit to DIMIA with a letter from your institute as proof of enrolment. Casual work may not be relevant to your course but will sharpen your soft skills. Working is a great experience but don’t rely on it for additional income. It’s also very important to balance work and study.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

At the undergraduate level, few universities offer bursaries in the form of fee waivers (25.50%) of tuition fee to students with academic background. There are limited full fee scholar ships awarded based on Std XII marks in 4 major subjects ( eligibility - above 90% ) and IELTS score (above 7.0 ) . There are some government funded scholarships like the IPRS (International Post graduate Research Scholarship) to attract high quality researchers.

IRPS covers tuition fees and the annual overseas health cover (OSHC) for the entire period of study.

However, it must be noted ‘getting aid’ is very competitive as it is based on academic requirement and no country specific quotas are applicable.

Requirements

♠ After the University approves the PVA request, the student will be advised to proceed with the payment of tuition fees and health cover and undergo medical examination.
♠ Visa Requirements:
♠ Valid passport
♠ Completed Form 157A
♠ Application Fee of Rs. 30500.00 in the form of a Draft payable to "Australian High Commission, NewDelhi"
♠ Letter of Offer /provisional acceptance issued by the Australian Educational Institution(original and copy) for a full time course. The institution should be registered with the Australian Government to offer courses to overseas student.
♠ Educational testimonials (mark sheets and certificates). All copies should be notarized
♠ Evidence of payment (COE) of First semester Tuition fees overseas student health insurance cover(OSHC).

♠ A letter from sponsor(where appropriate) i.e., Affidavit of Support (on Stamp paper) -original and Notarized copies- which should include :
1. His / her relationship with you
2. Letter from the sponsor's employer (If employed) / Income Proof
3. Income Tax Return (of last 3 years)
4. Details of his / her other dependents
5. Personal bank statement of the sponsor
6. Any other documents pertaining to financial standing
7. Evidence of your / your parents financial support (even where another sponsor is supporting the application) which should include:
8. A statement from a Chartered Engineer (with his registration /membership number) of immovable and moveable assets owned by you / your parents.

A number of conditions are attached to the student's Visa

♠ The student must satisfy the course requirements and maintain a valid enrolment
♠ Students must attend at least 80% of their classes.
♠ Students must achieve a satisfactory academic performance.
♠ The student cannot work for more than 40 hours per fortnight while studying. They can however work full-time during vacations.
♠ The student must study with the education provider where he initially enrolled for the first year of the course or for the entire duration if the course duration is less than one year.
